HP: No, as long as they are in receipt of the HRMC-DLA for four years or more
OP: No
What if I am unable to drive?
CH: A member of your family or a carer can be nominated to drive for you
HP/OP: A member of your family or a carer can purchase a car on your behalf on the same terms
How can I finance the purchase of a Ford car on these Schemes?
CH: You apply, via your Ford dealer, to Motability Operations for an Agreement. This will allow you to exchange your HRMC-DLA for the lease of a car. If your application is accepted you sign over your HRMC-DLA to Motability Operations for three years
HP: You apply, via your Ford dealer, to Motability Operations for an Agreement. This will allow you to exchange your HRMC-DLA for finance to allow you to purchase a car. If your application is accepted you sign over your HRMC-DLA to Motability Operations for four or five years, depending on the remaining length of your award and the period you require the finance amount to cover
OP: You, a member of your family, or a carer can obtain finance using any of the Ford finance offers available at the time of purchase, including the Ford "Options" Scheme. Alternatively you can arrange your own finance through your Bank, Building Society or any other finance house of your choice
Can I benefit from any other Ford marketing offers available at time of purchase?
CH: No. The Contract Hire agreement is a fully inclusive package
HP: Yes, you can qualify for most applicable marketing offers such as free insurance, marketing allowances, registration bonuses that are available from Ford at time of purchase. However, you are unable to qualify for any Ford finance offers, including the "Ford Options" Scheme, as finance is provided by Motability Operations
OP: Yes, you can qualify for any applicable marketing offers such as free insurance, zero or low rate finance plus any other offers that are available from Ford at the time of purchase (except Ford Privilege)
Who owns the vehicle?
CH: The vehicle belongs to Motability Operations and remains their property for the duration of the hire agreement. The hire agreement contains the full terms and conditions of the hiring the vehicle. The vehicle must be kept under the control of the hirer and the hirer must not part with possession of the vehicle, nor sell, assign, lease or lend the vehicle, or allow any other right to be created over the vehicle
HP: Until you have completed the payments, the vehicle will belong to Motability Operations. When the payment period is up (after four or five years), the vehicle becomes yours to do with as you wish. For the duration of the HP agreement, however, you should observe the conditions laid down in the agreement document you will receive from Motability Operations
OP: If you are financing the purchase through a finance company, legally it is their property until you comply with their contracts, terms and conditions
Can I fit adaptations on my vehicle?
CH: Adaptations such as hand controls, special car seats and wheelchair hoists, etc. may be added to the vehicle. However, you must check with your Ford Dealer before you have anything done to the vehicle and they will be able to approve them only if they do not adversely affect the condition of the vehicle and its resale value. You will be asked to pay for the cost of removal at the end of the agreement
HP: Since the vehicle will be yours at the end of the HP period, you may make any adaptations you need to it. However, you should bear in mind that any permanent adaptations - especially if they cannot be easily reversed - will almost certainly affect the resale value of the vehicle when you come to dispose of it. This includes its 'trade-in' value against a new vehicle
OP: The vehicle will be yours and you may, therefore, make any adaptations you need to it. However, you should bear in mind that any permanent adaptations - especially if they cannot be easily reversed - will almost certainly affect the resale value of the vehicle when you come to dispose of it. This includes its 'trade-in' value against a new vehicle
Is breakdown assistance available?
CH: RAC Breakdown cover is provided throughout the hire period. This covers Roadside Assistance, Recovery at Home and Onward Travel
HP/OP: Membership of the RAC is provided for the first year. If you wish it to continue subsequently, you may wish to purchase a Ford Protect Enhanced Warranty Cover, which is an after care package, offered by Ford and includes RAC membership
What will I need to do about insurance?
CH: All hired vehicles are covered by a fleet insurance policy with the RSAM. You cannot insure your vehicle with your own insurance company. All the insurance premiums for the duration of the agreement are included in the cost of the Scheme. Policy cover is comprehensive, providing protection for you if you are proposed as a driver and your other named driver(s)
HP/OP: You will be responsible for arranging your own insurance with a company of your choice and for paying the premium
